Ivan Dalos’ homebred 2-year-old filly Collecting Flatter got back to her winning ways with a front-running victory in the $125,000 Glorious Song S. Nov. 5 at Woodbine.
The bay filly has won all three of her starts on Woodbine’s Tapeta surface, and is now 3-0-1 in five starts, with earnings of $160,120.
As she did in her previous two Tapeta starts, Collecting Flatter went right to the lead from the break, and was head-to-head with Play the Music through the first three furlongs. She began to inch clear on the turn, then opened up by two lengths at the top of the stretch. Forever Dixie closed late, but was no real threat to the winner, who was almost a length in front at the wire.
The final time for the seven furlongs was 1:22.94.
“We were anxious to get her back on the Tapeta surface,” winning trainer Josie Carroll said. “She seems to really love that.”
“We love Flatter and I’m missing him,” said Colleen Dalos of the late Claiborne stallion, sire of Collecting Flatter. “We’ve had unbelievable success with Flatter. He has worked so well with our mares.”
Collecting Flatter’s dam Recollect has produced four winners, including the stakes winner Elusive Collection. Recollect is a full sister to the multiple Grade 1 winner and millionaire Winter Memories.
